Climb, Glide, Swim – You can climb on virtually anything you can get your hands on, from ruins and mountains to the massive beasts that inhabit the land. ![]() You can check out the announcement trailer below to see the game in action.Overcome impossible odds to climb atop and defeat the massive beasts that are bound to this land. Now I just need to get over my aversion to snow-centric games in order to warm up to the idea of finally playing the dang thing. But with the console release suddenly upon me, I guess the ball is in my court. Of course, without knowing how it performs on consoles, it’s hard to say how this version will stack up to the PC version. I will say that the Steam version has mostly positive reviews, which bodes well. There aren’t a ton of reviews out there, so you should do your diligence if Praey interests you. There’s even a Batman-style rope gun for zipping around! Oh, and there are Breath of the Wild-style elements like being able to climb dang near every surface, and use a trusty glider to help you sail to safety from lofty heights. Speaking of tools, there are also crafting and survival elements in Praey, which will hopefully support a few different playstyles, although ultimately it looks like scaling these beasts and attacking specific hotspots is the name of the game. It follows a nonlinear approach to gameplay, which I assume means you can tackle these enemies in any order, using whatever tools at your disposal. The basic concept for Praey is that you play as a lone warrior sent to a dying world to discover the cause of a never-ending winter, which I would venture to guess involves killing vanquishing the towering giants that inhabit the land. Breakwaters, for example, recently positioned itself to deliver a similar experience to tackling the colossi in Team Ico’s masterpiece, but Breakwaters is also mostly a survival crafting game. There have been a few contenders in the intervening years, but nothing that really scratches that itch. I loved Shadow of the Colossus, and I’ve often lamented how few games managed or even attempted to deliver a similar experience to that thrilling game. Now I just need to find the time to actually play it, what with all of the other games on my plate (it’s been a surprising busy year for games). I just didn’t know when that time would finally arrive. But knowing a console version was on the horizon, I also felt like holding off so I could utilize my DualSense to tackle these monstrous beasts. Part of that was the issue of control, a problem I’ve only recently remedied. I’ve had this game on my Steam Wishlist for some time now, but I could never pull the trigger. This also happens to be the same day the game was shadow-released for both the PS4 and PS5 at a price point of $29.99. That all changed when a release trailer suddenly dropped on December 14, 2021. ![]() For the most part, things have been pretty quiet for this Shadow of the Colossus-like’s console edition. Needless to say, it didn’t hit its target release date. Praey for the Gods was supposed to launch for consoles in the first quarter of 2021.
